LIVING TO DO

CJaneC

It's only me and little things I like, things about my life, meaningful things to me, and just things...

I like ordinary things.

I like violet Violets & Little Johnny Jump-ups, dragonflies & pretty rocks.

Every moment is precious. When it's gone there's no getting it back.

The Path of Life

My life is full and rich

“The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all thy Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all thy Tears wash out a Word of it.”
― Omar Khayyám

All Hallows Eve - litany of the saints

I, the Lord of sea and sky I have heard my people cry All who dwell in dark and sin My hand will save. I who made the stars and night I will make the darkness bright Who will bear my light to them Whom shall I send? Here I am Lord Is it I Lord? I have heard you calling in the night I will go Lord If you lead me I will hold your people in my heart. I the Lord of snow and rain I have borne my people’s pain I have wept for love of them They turn away. I will break their hearts of stone Fill their hearts with love alone I will speak my word to them Whom shall I send? Here I am Lord Is it I Lord? I have heard you calling in the night I will go Lord If you lead me I will hold your people in my heart. I will hold your people in my heart…

I, the Lord of sea and sky
I have heard my people cry
All who dwell in dark and sin
My hand will save.

I who made the stars and night
I will make the darkness bright
Who will bear my light to them
Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord
Is it I Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night
I will go Lord
If you lead me
I will hold your people in my heart.

I the Lord of snow and rain
I have borne my people’s pain
I have wept for love of them
They turn away.

I will break their hearts of stone
Fill their hearts with love alone
I will speak my word to them
Whom shall I send?

Here I am Lord
Is it I Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night
I will go Lord
If you lead me
I will hold your people in my heart.

I will hold your people in my heart…

Joy and Sorrow

Then a woman said, “Speak to us of Joy and Sorrow.”

And he answered:

Your joy is your sorrow unmasked.

And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears.

And how else can it be?

The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.

Is not the cup that hold your wine the very cup that was burned in the potter’s oven?

And is not the lute that soothes your spirit, the very wood that was hollowed with knives?

When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy.

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.

Some of you say, “Joy is greater than sorrow,” and others say, “Nay, sorrow is the greater.”

But I say unto you, they are inseparable.

Together they come, and when one sits alone with you at your board, remember that the other is asleep upon your bed.

Verily you are suspended like scales between your sorrow and your joy.

Only when you are empty are you at standstill and balanced.

When the treasure-keeper lifts you to weigh his gold and his silver, needs must your joy or your sorrow rise or fall. -Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

Patrick is improving everyday in every way, especially with the cats. It didn’t take him long to realize that he gets thrown out of the area if he goes near the cats inappropriately. So, it was gradual, but now he’ll just lay there and even go to sleep. I never leave him alone with them, of course. But, they are getting better with him around too. Since they were used to dogs he didn’t bother them when he first came until he tackled them. So, they got more secure with the gated area. It’s working.    This dog had no training in any way when we got him. It’s been rough. But, he aims to please and he’s bright so he learns fast. Watching his trust grow was exhilarating.     Lil Al is still my ‘baby,’ and he’s laying on my chest asleep and listening to his breathing is relaxing and peaceful.
